Job Title: Texas ACE Tutor

Wage/Hour Status: $11.00/hr (+Pending Experience or certification)/At Will

Primary Purpose:
Provide students supplemental instructional services with appropriate learning activities in targeted areas of the core curriculum to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual growth. Work with individual or small groups of students enrolled in the Texas ACE Program to close learning gaps, so students will successfully interact with grade-level material in the regular classroom.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma
- Strong knowledge of the specified academic subject or any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to meet the needs of people from various social, educational, and economic backgrounds
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Demonstrated competency in core academic subject area assigned
- Ability to problem solve and find solutions in a fast-paced environment
Experience
- Supervising children grades K-12 preferred
- Background in education and/or social work preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Implement the Texas ACE Program, under the direction of the Texas ACE Site Coordinator, to incorporate meaningful educational connections to school-day learning.
- Understand the Texas ACE Vision, Mission, and Objectives; articulate to staff, administrators, students, families, and community leaders as needed
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
- Assist with assignments and explain concepts in a manner that students understand.
- Create a learning environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the needs of students.
- Document daily the students tutored, times tutored and skills addressed during the session.
- Motivate and support students through positive feedback and reinforcement.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the learning goals of the campus.
- Communicate effectively with site coordinator, campus administrators, teachers, parents and students.
- Attend all required Texas ACE and Robinson ISD trainings, webinars, conference calls and meetings.
- Establish an environment of success through positive staff morale and program achievement.
- Be available to work flexible hours to accommodate evening and weekend activities.
School/Community Relations
- Attends and is visible at campus, district, and community functions to support the efforts of students, staff, and patrons.
- Articulate the district’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing its mission.
- Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs based on grant.
- Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
