Primary Purpose:

 

This position is responsible for directing and managing the district's athletic programs, facilities, transportation, and other student activities. A student-focused leader will establish a culture of trust, partnership, and collaboration within the Athletic department and will insist on high expectations and care for all student athletes. This leader will set ambitious goals with all coaches to develop an athletic pathway for students to market themselves, develop skills, and abilities necessary to excel in athletics and life, and provide students with the opportunity to participate in extracurricular and/ or co-curricular activities and ensure compliance with all federal and state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and local requirements.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

Valid Texas teaching certificate

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of operations management

Ability to oversee the operations and strategic plan for the athletic department and provide motivation and direction

Ability to develop, organize, and implement programs

Knowledge of federal, state, and UIL policies governing athletics

Ability to implement policy and procedures

Ability to interpret data and evaluate programs

Ability to manage budget and personnel

Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Manage positive relationships with coaches, school personnel, and the public

Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents, and staff

Ability to problem solve, resolve disputes, and make tough decisions

 

Experience:

5 years teaching and coaching experience
